Studio/Lab is dedicated to supporting a vibrant community of artists, researchers, curators, and technologists. It’s a space for creatives whose practice is critically engaged and digitally focused.

With Artist Membership, you can enjoy access to Studio/Lab - a large city-centre co-workspace including video editing and podcast suites, new-generation technology, entry-level immersive kit, and digital production tools. You’ll be able to attend knowledge-sharing opportunities with artists and creatives who have expertise in a wide range of practices, as well as community meetings and socials.

In terms of support, FACT can offer mentorship, artist crits, digital surgeries, and professional development sessions. For a full list of equipment and tools, click here.

£50/month or £500/year

2 days of hot desk access with the use of technical resources in Studio/Lab
Artist, technical or professional development sessions every week
Invitations to our annual open weekend, and quarterly community meetings
An artist feature on the FACT website
Free entry to public Studio/Lab talks and events
Opportunity to apply to lead or take part in Artist Skills Workshops
Secure locker, super fast WiFi, unlimited free tea and coffee.
Use of filming equipment for 1 day per week (09:30-21:00). For additional days, members can book the filming equipment at a preferential rate of £120 p/day.

Ability to book 1-2-1 chats with the team at FACT
Limited access (subject to availability) to our workshop for construction and dirty work with full Health & Safety training
Discounted rates for hiring FACT and Studio/Lab spaces for meetings or events
Members also have the option to split their full membership with another artist

A flexible way to use the space in an ad-hoc way to get the use of Studio/Lab without the commitment of a monthly or annual membership. Perfect for visiting artists or those looking for something more on the go.

1 day (7 hours) of hot desk access with super fast Wi-Fi, free tea and coffee
Option to include use of a high-spec Windows PC in the Digital Library
Does not include the use of any other technical resources in Studio/Lab

Access

Studio/Lab is accessible only to Artist Members (with the exception of public events). Access to Studio/Lab is on the third floor of FACT via lift and coded entry.

Studio/Lab is open to Artist Members from Tuesday to Friday 09:30 - 21:00, and Saturday 10:30 - 21:00. For access after 18:00, Artist Members will need to take part in a security induction.

Membership Next Steps

Code of Conduct

To join Studio/Lab as an Artist Member, you will need to complete an expression of interest form so we can make sure the space and resources are best suited to your needs.
Once we've processed this, you will receive an email to become an Artist Member.
Click on the link to join, complete the form, and select how you would like to pay for your membership.
Once this is complete, you will receive a welcome email outlining the next steps, including how to book your induction, our Code of Conduct, and how to make the most of your membership.

When spending time in Studio/Lab, we ask that you be mindful of how you work with, and exist alongside, others. This allows us to create and maintain conditions in which innovation, experimentation and risk can thrive.
