Alexandre Burton (Quebec, 1973) is a composer, digital instrument maker, and researcher. Minimal and uncomplicated, his work focuses on writing and the organisation of relationships amongst various modes of expression. His works are frequently presented at international digital art and music events. In addition to his activities with digital arts collective artificiel, Burton also collaborates with other art and cultural societies as a technology consultant.

Burton's interest in new media technology stems from a desire to reveal new forms of expressivity through digital processes. Tightly integrating hardware and software, his artistic work is the result of attempts to think beyond media, in a realm where sound, images and processes cohabit and answer to each other in meaningful ways.

He was awarded a first prize in Bourges for software design (with Jean Piché for Cecilia) and an honourable mention in Ars Electronica in Digital Music (with artificiel, for Bulbes).
