Atractor Studio is a collective of artists working with mechanical, electronic, and computer engineering techniques within the arts. Their focus is on visualising natural phenomena, as well as mathematical and scientific paradigms, to explore sociocultural issues beyond the Western perspective. They incorporate other ways of knowing and understanding science, engaging viewers through both digital and analogue media. The studio views technology as a site of struggle within their Latin American context. For them, being active users of technology means that electronic arts have the power to spark conversations and create spaces for community dialogue. Atractor operates as an open studio, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and valuing horizontal creative relationships over the hierarchical, specialist-driven approach of traditional academic and creative institutions.
Semantica was founded in 2021 by Jemma Foster and Camilla French, who are based in Colombia and the UK. Their work is focused on creating art from biodata and exploring non-linear linguistics and interspecies communication in the post-anthropocene. Winner of the Prix Ars Electronica Golden Nica for Digital Musics and Sound Art for A Tale of Two Seeds: Sound and Silence in Latin America's Andean Plains, in collaboration with Atractor Studio.
