Dennis Del Favero is a Scientia Professor and research artist at the UNSW Faculties of Art & Design and Engineering. He is Chair Professor of Digital Innovation and Associate Dean (Research & Enterprise) in the Faculty of Art & Design; Executive Director of the iCinema Research Centre; a Director of the Expanded Perception & Interaction Centre; Visiting Professorial Fellow at ZKM|Centre for Art and Media (Karlsruhe), and at the Academy of Fine Arts (Vienna); Visiting Professor at IUAV University of Venice; panel member of the Eureka Prize for Excellence in Interdisciplinary Science and Member of the editorial committee of Studio Corpi (Rome).
Del Favero has held numerous solo exhibitions including at the Sprengel Museum (Hanover), ViaFarini (Milan), and Neue Galerie (Graz); and has participated in major group exhibitions including the ‘Sydney Film Festival’, ‘International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam’, ‘Biennial of Seville’, ‘Videonale’ (Bonn) and ‘Battle of the Nations War Memorial’ (Leipzig; joint project with Jenny Holzer). Over the past years, he has been engaged in interdisciplinary art projects that explore the relationship between human and non-human systems through the experimental reformulation of immersive aesthetics using digital media. These have been undertaken in collaboration with, for example, the ABC, Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, IUAV University of Venice, Sydney Theatre Company, UNSW Climate Change Research Centre, UNSW Centre for Astrobiology and ZKM|Centre for Art and Media.
