Katriona Beales is a sculptor who also makes moving image and installation. Beales' explores the physical, aesthetic and mental experience of using computers and mobile telecommunications devices. These vessels of the virtual have a physical place in the world, and she stresses the continuing role of the object post-internet. Beales' work respond to the seductive surface of the screen, the slippage between online and offline worlds, ideas of the technological sublime, internet addiction and the Digital Baroque.
Beales has exhibited nationally and internationally. Selected residencies include Altelierhaus Salzamt, Austria and Tokyo Wonder Site, Japan. She is a graduate of Liverpool School of Art, and Chelsea College of Arts, and is currently based in London.
