Video game.
In Porpentine’s almanac of girlswampwar territory, a “vagrant kid journeys through a province of pixelated child soldiers and edible ponies”. Created in Bitsy, a web-based game-making tool, it features lo-fi graphics that seek to recreate the feeling that Porpentine experienced when playing video games as a child.
almanac of girlswampwar territory weaves themes of repetition and entrapment with a dream-like logic that is as humorous as it is absurd. As a player, your existence in this world is mundane and menial: concerned with the feeling of riding a train or walking through a city as day turns to night. Your only goal is to survive for as long as possible, which you can do by begging for money and hunting for a bed to sleep in. Porpentine’s work encourages you to explore and interact with as many curious characters as possible before you inevitably starve to death.
