In sexy, both women are occupied with self-empowerment, the use of their bodies, and their relationship with the camera. However, Ayub’s character does not have the tools to become an international sensation like Miley Cyrus. Her poor restaging gives us nothing more than a domestic interpretation of a pop video, resembling a rushed YouTube clip. Ayub’s alter ego, unable to fully adopt the role of this provocative Western stereotype, is visibly plagued with doubt about exhibiting herself. She struggles with the commercialised cliché of a rebellious female role model, ever-present in the background.
