Rafman’s work highlights the ‘in-between’ (and often nightmarish) nature of these invented realms and their surreal detachment from the source material that was used to create or inspire them.
Still Life and Main Squeeze are presented in a custom-made environment, linked to the themes of obsession and desire, which run throughout Rafman’s artistic practice. This familiar and deeply uncomfortable setting blurs the lines between what is on the screen and what is in the room.
