The Magic Tree is an interactive digital exhibition that each visitor has the power to irreversibly change. It consists of a simple game which uses neural style transfer to produce a constantly evolving artwork, created through a mass online collaboration.
Inspired by ‘The Magic Tree’ in Sefton Park, which for generations has been a meeting place, climbing frame and natural monument, this evolving digital artwork will begin with a normal photo of the tree. Each visitor is invited to upload an image to the page and a machine learning algorithm will evolve the tree, permanently altering its digital features.
