The Room is made-up of an oversized sofa and armchair that throws the viewer physically back to childhood. Built for bigger people, it transports us back to a time where our bodies had less presence and power within the world.

The work brings into question many of the assumptions of normality held within the dominant mainstream. This is Pipilotti's great strength as an artist - she provokes a raised consciousness about complexity without moralising or chastising - her works are all infused with a spirit of playfulness and generosity and yet they request that we take a second glance at the things we take for granted.
