Immerse yourself in GLOR1A's boundary-defying universe and discover her interactive digital artwork, SWARM (2022).
Interact with SWARM (2022), a playable work built by FACT Together artist-in-residence GLOR1A and games designer alpha_rats.
Set in the near future where humans have the chance to develop a new civilisation, SWARM encourages players to challenge preconceptions of what is ‘alien’ and to free themselves from binary thinking.
As players work to build a new universal language, they are prompted to contemplate their present identity and consider who they have the potential to become. These subconscious thoughts are made visible in the creation of a new avatar who encourages release through self expression.
A star constellation accessible at the end of the gameplay houses reports of everyone who has undergone this transformation, acting as a point of reflection and social experiment. By encouraging power in vulnerability, SWARM asks: what could be possible if we rejected learned binaries and embraced self-acceptance?
To conclude her FACT Together residency, GLOR1A presents SWARM within our first-floor gallery, alongside the works of Chila Kumari Singh Burman and artist-in-residence Kerolaina Linkeviča.
