Part of the Radical Ancestry season
Step into an immersive environment and discover how Lucy Hutchinson uses ritual, digital media and collectivity to conjure the Lancashire witches back to life. Once present, the witches will share how their history haunts our world today before providing a prophecy for the future.
Into the Shade is a performance piece by Lucy Hutchinson, which has been devised as part of her 2022 Jerwood Arts x FACT Fellowship. The performance forms part of her new body of work, currently on display at FACT. The exhibition can be found on the first-floor presented in our new gallery space designed by Chila Kumari Singh Burman.
This event is drop-in and will run between 18:00 - 20:00, with recurring performances every five minutes. Please register your attendance via Eventbrite.
At 18:45, join us for an in conversation with Lucy Hutchinson and FACT's Studio/Lab Manager, Lesley Taker. The pair will touch on Lucy's residency, research and process of making.
The sound for the event has been produced in collaboration with Aubrey Jackson Blake.
Aubrey Jackson Blake is a sound artist based in London. He works predominately with analog synthesisers and found sounds to create otherworldly soundscapes. He has previously presented work at London Design Festival, The Royal College of Art, South London Gallery and Central St Martins.
